The Shareshill Paper Collection covers Shareshill village and neighbouring Featherstone, and takes place on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

The mastermind behind the scheme was Cllr. Roy Hood JP who selflessly served the community all his adult life. He is sadly missed by all who were privileged to know him.

We are grateful to Roy's brother Peter who continues the scheme which has raised over £20 000 for various restoration projects for Shareshill Church, £804 in 2005. The revenue is from the "Environmental Credit" paid by the council for saving them from having to pay to tip it in a land fill site.

On the second Saturday of each month villagers leave newspapers by the edge of their property for collection. We do ask that it is put out by about 09:30. Carrier bags are the best containers because the are easy to pick up, easy to empty, and easy to dispose of. Volunteers collect the paper in their own vehicles and take it to the skip which is kept, courtesy of Mr Peter Hood, on private property opposite shareshill School.vehicles.

In between the monthly collections waste paper can be left in the barn opposite the skip.
