2017 Fete and Vintage Fayre

Shareshill Vintage Fayre is popular with the cherished vehicle enthusiasts who enjoy the "village atmosphere" - yes we're small scale compared to some events but we're a friendly bunch!
<
Whilst ostensively being a fund-raising event for Shareshill Church, we also draw in other organisations.

We were also entertained by the choir from Shareshill's Havergal Academy - sorry no pictures due to usual safeguarding issue.

We also had a range of stalls and games.

Wolverhampton Retired Greyhound Tust

Our local bee-keepers brought a "live" demonstration hive.

We also had Shareshill Alpacas available for children to pet and have selfies taken. They also had on show a range of alpaca wool products available for sale.

There were fairground rides for children ...
...demonstations of dog flyball ...
... and some wonderful effort put into the welly wanging!

The biggest, heaviest star of the show was undoubtedly Endurance, a 114 year old Burrell showman's road locomotive.
Originally used as a haulage engine by William Stokes of Basingstoke; then converted to showman's specification in 1933. It was scrapped in 1955, then acquired by the late Len Crane in 1990 and thoroughly restored.

In addition to individual enthusiasts we welcomed organised groups from:
The Bentley Drivers' Club, West Midlands Classic Car Club, North Birmingham Classic Car Club, The TR6 Owners' Club and The Old Codgers' Club.

Below are photographs of many of the exhibits. Please email the webmaster if you find errors or omisions which need to be corrected.

I am reliably informed that this "Royal Enfield" is a recent creation; built from engine up by a member of Wolverhampton Classic Bike Club who made the frame, the fuel tank, the mudguards, laced the wheels and made the headlight from a saucepan!! It creates much interest wherever he goes, and often onlookers will be drawn into discussing its age and model, which is amusing because the machine has neither!
